By the abundant mercy of god, the St. Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, V-Kottayam is at the threshold of its centenary. This parish had the blessing of our Lord and the intercession of St. Mary and other Saints through out the preceding years, to take us here, overcoming all the trials and tribulation encountered in the past. The parish, having established in January 1908 as a very modest worshiping community, will be completing 100 years in January 2008 at Glory to God and Service to fellow human beings. This is an appropriate occasion to look back and glance through the pages of history. Vallicodu-Kottayam is a beautiful village situated at about 7km distance from the district head quarters of Pathanamthitta at south – east direction. The northern and southern sides of the village are protected by tall hills (above 100 meters from sea level) and a beautiful green valley has emerged in between the hills, which has an area of about 35 sq. Km. The valley, decorated by tall trees and lush green vegetation is descending to the paddy fields at the center, which is watered by the stream originating from the hills, following through the heart of the village, like a life line and reaches to the Achencoil river.
